Workdek named a finalist in the Site Safe 2026 Health & Safety Awards

The Site Safe awards recognise organisations making a measurable contribution to health and safety in New Zealand construction. The Safety Innovation category covers new approaches to persistent industry problems.

The nomination recognises Workdek's work on internal fall prevention in residential construction — a category of risk that has proven stubborn. WorkSafe data shows residential building sites account for more injuries than any other construction workplace, with more than half of falls occurring from under three metres.

Workdek's approach is a modular working platform that creates a continuous solid surface inside the building, preventing falls rather than arresting them. It sits at the collective prevention level of the hierarchy of controls.

Independent assessment by DSC Consulting across five New Zealand projects found the system reduced man-hours on the tasks that depend on fall protection on every project measured. Separate research with CHASNZ examined the ergonomic effects of working from a stable internal platform.

The finalist listing is independent industry recognition, and we are pleased to have it. The more useful measure remains what happens on sites.
